A two-day training workshop aimed at strengthening child-sensitive policing and improving the justice system for children commenced here on Monday under UNICEF’s Child Protection Programme and “Reimagine Justice for Children" initiative.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar participated in the opening session of the workshop held at a local hotel, which brought together police officers from 14 districts of South Punjab.
The training focused on enhancing police officers’ professional knowledge and capacity to deal with matters involving children, particularly those in conflict with the law. Special emphasis was placed on safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring their protection throughout the justice process.
Participants were provided comprehensive awareness of various aspects of child-friendly justice, with particular focus on the Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018, and its effective implementation. The sessions also covered:
- Legal safeguards for children
- Appropriate policing approaches
- Measures to make the justice system more responsive to the specific needs of children.
The workshop was part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement personnel and promote a more sensitive, responsible, and child-friendly approach to policing. The initiative reflects Multan Police’s commitment to further improve measures for the protection of children and the enforcement of their rights.
