NA Body Recommends PFF To Align Constitution With FIFA Rules

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 15, 2026) The National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) has recommended the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to align its constitution and rules with FIFA requirements to ensure effective development of football in Pakistan.

The IPC Committee meeting was held under the Acting Chairmanship of Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, here at the Parliament House on Tuesday.

In the meeting, the PFF President briefed the Committee on the Federation’s recent achievements, performance, and future plans. He informed that Pakistan's national football team had won a trophy in an international event for the first time, describing it as a highly encouraging development for the sport's promotion and growth within the country.

The Committee expressed appreciation for this achievement and acknowledged it as a positive step towards strengthening football in Pakistan.

It was shared during the briefing that the PFF had been inactive for a significant period but elections were held approximately one year ago, adhering to FIFA’s directives, resulting in the election of new leadership, including the President of the Federation.

The Committee learned that certain provisions of the existing rules and constitution of the Pakistan Football Federation did not align fully with FIFA’s regulations. Consequently, steps are being taken to bring the Federation’s legal framework in conformity with FIFA requirements.

Furthermore, the Committee recommended that the PFF:

  • Bring its constitution and rules fully in line with FIFA requirements
  • Facilitate effective and sustainable measures for football's promotion and development in Pakistan.

The PFF President also informed the Committee about the importance of developing and rehabilitating football infrastructure as a key factor for the sport’s growth in the country. He stated that talented players from across the nation are being identified through the Talent Hunt Programme, aiming to introduce new talent into Pakistan's national football system.

He highlighted the rehabilitation and reconstruction of football grounds and academies in every province as essential for sustainable football promotion in Pakistan. The Committee directed the PFF to establish effective coordination with provincial governments' Sports Departments, enabling the Federation to actively participate in schemes and initiatives promoting sports.
