PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that Imran Khan’s health issue has been escalated into a constitutional crisis.
While speaking to journalists in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar expressed his concern over the lack of security provided to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Lahore. He described the incident where the Chief Minister was made to sit in an open vehicle and transported to a chowk as unfortunate.
According to Barrister Gohar, this treatment would intensify hatred and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab Police should offer an apology for their conduct. He further emphasized the responsibility of provincial institutions in providing security to the Chief Minister of another province.
He added that Imran Khan was supposed to be transferred to a hospital as per a Supreme Court order, and a medical board was to be constituted, but these measures were not implemented. Contempt of court petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
Barrister Gohar stated that the Supreme Court always hears criminal cases and Imran Khan’s health crisis has been transformed into a political and constitutional dilemma. He claimed that no negotiations are taking place with the government and the atmosphere is unproductive.
