Netflix is adding some familiar faces to its upcoming series This Summer Will Be Different, based on Carley Fortune’s best-selling novel. The cast includes:
- Malin Akerman (The Hunting Wives, Billions) as "Aunt Stacy"
- Megan Follows (Buried in Barstow) as "Cheryl"
- Nadine Bhabha (Heated Rivalry, Slo Pitch) as "Farah"
- Matias Lucas (The Order) as "Carter"
The ensemble also comprises Jordan Rodrigues, Jude Wilson, Natalie Brown, James Tupper, Tom Barnett, and Celia Owen.
The Story
This Summer Will Be Different stretches across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island, following Lucy "Bee" Ashby (Sophie Nélisse) as she visits her best friend Bridget (Francesca Reale). Lucy harbors feelings for Bridget's brother Felix (Roby Attal), a forbidden love.
Creation and Production
Based on Fortune's third novel, the series is created by Dane Clark (Suze, One More Time) and Linsey Stewart (Workin' Moms, North of North). Clark and Stewart also serve as showrunners alongside Carley Fortune (Every Summer After, Our Perfect Storm), Jennifer Kawaja (Sort Of, Wayward), Elise Cousineau (Cardinal, Small Achievable Goals), and Samantha Levine.
Production has wrapped on Prince Edward Island, with filming now underway in Toronto.
